On the 1st of October, 2012, more than 100 certified public accountants, along with guests from the Ministry of Finance of Bulgaria, the Public Oversight Commission and the University of Economics, gathered in Sofia to attend a thechnical seminar co-organised by FCM and member body IDES Bulgaria.
The seminar was devided into two sections. The first was dedicated to IFRS for SMEs, and the second to international education standards in acccountancy.
Paul Pacter, Board member of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) gave two presentations on IFRS, in information session on IFRS SMEs and then an extensive update on teh IFRS work programme and the status of adoption of IFRS to date.
Professor Alain Burlaud, from the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers in Paris (and Advisor to the Minister of National Education in France) delivered the third presentation of the seminar, entitled “International Education Standards for Professional Accountants”, which provided participants with an update on the current status and trends in international education standards for the accountancy professiona.
